YOUTH

Goal: Implement American Lung Association's

Not On Tobacco (NOT) and Alternative to Suspension (AtS).

NOT is designed to help youth:
   · stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes smoked
   · increase healthy lifestyle behaviors
   · improve life management skills.

NOT is a voluntary, ten-session comprehensive cessation and education program. Nearly 90% of NOT participants are successful at either quitting completely or at least reducing their smoking.

AtS can be offered as an option to students who face suspension for violating a school's tobacco use policy.

It consists of four sessions that address tobacco use, addiction and healthy alternatives to smoking.

Pregnant Women

Goal: Implement Mayo Clinic Outpatient Tobacco Cessation Program.

Prenatal clients are offered additional counseling. Any clients interested, are contacted by a health educator for a personal counseling and support in quitting tobacco. In keeping with the Mayo Clinic program, we offer individual sessions, by phone or a designated meeting site, in order to assist prenatal clients who are not appropriate for, or capable of attending regular group sessions

Adults

Goal: Implement American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking program.

This eight-session program emphasizes long-term freedom from smoking. The participants identify the pitfalls of relapse and carefully prevent it. This program teaches the latest skills for good stress management, weight control and exercise.

*Adult smokeless tobacco cessation counseling is provided to teach a step-by-step method for changing behavior and quitting smokeless tobacco use.

Today, employers have more reason than ever to protect employees from exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS). Research on the dangers of tobacco use provides ample justification for making the workplace tobacco-free. Consultation is available to workplace decision-makers offering practical and proven strategies for implementing successful policies in a variety of work settings.

Smokeless Tobacco Users*

  Goal: Implement Ohio Dental Association's

Teens Against Chewing Tobacco In the Community (TACTIC).

Operation TACTIC is a comprehensive education program on smokeless tobacco that includes lesson plans for primary, intermediate and secondary grade levels.

TACTIC is designed to educate youth about the dangers of smokeless tobacco and help teachers, coaches, health professionals and others in implementing anti-use strategies.
