Greene County Combined Health District receives

Physicians’ Charitable Foundation Donation

The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) is pleased to announce an award of $10,000.00 from the Physicians’ Charitable Foundation of the Miami Valley for the HIV/AIDS Testing, Counseling and Prevention program.

This is the third year that GCCHD has received the award from the Foundation.

The money will be used to purchase HIV rapid test kits and supplies.  GCCHD has had the HIV/AIDS Counseling, Testing and Prevention program since 1990.  It is partially funded by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) with support from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and GCCHD.  The program, with 1.5 FTEs (full-time equivalents), conducts over 1,500 free HIV tests annually and provides prevention education to over 1,600 people in the Counties of Greene, Fayette, Clinton and Warren. In addition, the program has a communication/outreach component that reaches over 10,000 people.  Agencies served by this program include: all 5 colleges and universities in the County, Women’s Recovery Center, Fayette Recovery Center, Integrated Youth Services, TCN Behavioral Health Network, Greene County Jail, adult and juvenile detention centers, and 2 alternative schools.   The overall goal of the HIV/AIDS program is to provide HIV Health Education and Risk Reduction Programs to high-risk individuals.

“We continue to feel honored to be a part of this important community collaboration for Greene County.  The Physicians’ Charitable Foundation of the Miami Valley continues to be a valuable partner to the Health District.  We appreciate and thank each member for their continued support,” Health Commissioner Mark A. McDonnell said.
