(XENIA, OH)  The Greene County Combined Health District will be offering free, confidential HIV tests on Friday, June 27, 2008 in honor of the 16th National HIV Testing Day.  The walk-in testing will start at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m.  The Health District is located at 360 Wilson Dr., Xenia, OH, 45385.  No appointment is needed. Light refreshments and videos will be available.

National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) is an annual campaign created by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) to promote voluntary HIV counseling and testing. Approximately 30,000 national organizations will participate this year.  One quarter of all HIV positive people in the United States, roughly 250,000 people are unaware of their positive HIV status. Knowing one’s HIV status is a powerful tool for HIV prevention.

Visit www.HIVtest.org for more information on HIV testing and to find local testing sites. You can also find local testing sites by texting your zip code to KNOWIT (566948), a service provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
