Greene County Epidemiologist, Donald Brannen, Receives Award

 

(XENIA, OH)  The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) is pleased to announce that Donald Brannen,  Greene County Epidemiologist, was awarded the 2008 Ohio Health Policy Student Research Award last week in Columbus.  For photo, click here.

The award was given to Donald Brannen for the 2008 Best Ohio Health Policy Student Research Award for his paper "Barriers to Utilization of Public Health Services.”  The research identified the need for a federally-qualified health center in a medically underserved area of Greene County. The authors on the paper included Donald E. Brannen, MHSA, MS, Mark McDonnell, RS, MS, Jonathan Boche and Robyn Fosnaugh, MPH, RN. Collaborators included Greene County Combined Health District, Greene County, Ohio; Walden University and Cedarville University, School of Nursing, Cedarville, Ohio.

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio Awards for Health Policy Research are given out each year to honor outstanding research carried out by Ohio-based researchers that is relevant to health policy in the state. All winners and winning institutions receive a monetary award for their work (if their institution rules allow such an award).  The 2008 awards are funded by a grant from the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati. The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati is an independent 501(c) (4) social welfare organization dedicated to improving community health. The foundation awards grants to non-profit and governmental organizations for programs and activities that improve health in Cincinnati and 20 surrounding counties in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.
