Greene County Combined Health District

Announces National Preparedness Month

(XENIA, OH)  The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) announces National Preparedness Month, September 2007.  Every year, natural disasters ranging from tornadoes and flooding to blizzards wreak havoc on families and businesses. These and other emergencies - fires, explosions and chemical releases, to name a few - can have damaging environmental consequences. Yet too many Ohioans have not taken simple steps to prepare for these emergencies.

That's why September, National Preparedness Month, is all about helping individuals, families, businesses and communities to take action. Everyone is encouraged to make a plan for how your business or facility would respond during an emergency. A commitment to planning today will protect your assets and Ohio's environment.

Free preparedness resources are just a click away at http://www.ready.gov/business/index.html. You'll find extensive, free materials to help you develop a plan and be ready.  In addition, the American Red Cross has free preparedness materials for individuals and families at its website, www.redcross.org.

For more information, please call Debbie Leopold, Director of Environmental Health Services for the GCCHD at (937) 374-5604.
