Greene County Combined Health District Celebrates
National Influenza Vaccination Week – November 26 – December 2
(XENIA, OH) The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) is celebrating National Influenza Vaccination Week November 26 – December 2 by reminding residents of the importance of getting an influenza vaccination (flu shot).
Flu shots are available at the Greene County Combined Health District, 360 Wilson Dr., Xenia, OH 45385 on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. GCCHD will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25th and Tuesday, Jan. 1st.
As per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), GCCHD reminds residents that:
- Each year in the U.S., an average of 36,000 people die, and more than 200,000 are hospitalized from serious flu-related complications
- Some people, such as older people, young children, pregnant women and people with certain health conditions are at a higher risk for serious flu complications
- The time to get a flu vaccine starts in September and continues into winter through January or later
- Vaccination is the single best way to protect yourself and the people you love from influenza.
The cost per flu shot is $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for children, payable by cash, check, Medicaid including Care Source, Molina and Amerigroup and Medicare Part B only, excluding Medicare Managed Care. Cards must be shown.
