GREENE COUNTY COMBINED HEALTH DISTRICT
ANNOUNCES
PARTICIPATION IN PROJECT BACKPACK
(XENIA, OH)
Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) announced today that they would
participate in Greene County/Southwest Ohio Project Backpack.
Project
Backpack provides backpacks to children that have been affected by Hurricane
Katrina. Thousands of families and children have lost their homes and all of
their possessions. Many of these families have been sent to Ohio to begin their
lives again, including starting school.
Greene
County/Southwest Ohio Project Backpack can
help these families. Backpacks will be distributed first to children who have
re-located to Ohio, then to children in other regions affected by the hurricane.
Donate
new backpacks with children’s necessities. These include: school supplies;
small toys/games (not battery-operated); books, comic books; puzzle books;
toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush/comb, deodorant, hair bands);
hand-made card or note.
Each
Backpack should be labeled with gender and age of person to receive the
backpack.
Backpack
drop off will be on Saturday, October 1, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the
health district office, 360 Wilson Drive, Xenia, Ohio.
Greene
County/Southwest Ohio Project Backpack
is being sponsored by Greene County Combined health District, POD (Portable on
Demand), and American Way Moving Company, Dayton, Ohio.
