County Combined Health District Offers (XENIA, OH) Greene County Combined Health District in observance of Minority Health Month in April, will sponsor two, three-class series Dining with Diabetes. Dining with Diabetes, is funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health in collaboration with the OSU Extension Service and the health district. The series is free and open to the public. The series is designed to give people with diabetes information to help them make healthy food choices, cook healthy versions of similar food that are easy to prepare, and teach cooking techniques using healthful ingredients. The three-class series is scheduled at two locations: Session 1: Saturdays, April 9th, 16th and 23rd at the United AME Church, 286 E. Church Street, Xenia, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon; Session 2: Mondays, April 11th, 18th, and 25th at Central State University, The Stokes Center on Aging, 2000 Brush Row Road, Wilberforce, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each class is two hours and includes instruction, cooking demonstration, tasting healthy foods, and exercise demonstration. Each participant will receive a free cookbook, a notebook containing nutritional information and will be eligible to win a door prize. Space is limited and pre registration is required.
