Greene County Combined Health District
Celebrates World Health Day
By Promoting
Family Road Safety

(Xenia, OH) Greene County Combined Health District joins the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in recognizing World Health Day on April 7th.

Family road safety has been identified as a critical issue and traffic fatalities will soon be the third leading cause of death worldwide.

In 2002, motor vehicle crashes in Ohio resulted in 1,284 deaths and 95,374 injuries. These crashes were the leading cause of death for people ages four through 35. Despite the efforts of the local police departments, Safe Communities Programs, and other safety organizations, motor vehicle crashes remain a serious public health problem throughout United States.

Efforts are being made through public awareness and increased enforcement to emphasize the need to buckle-up, not drink and drive, and to drive defensively. Help celebrate World Health Day by buckling up and driving safely.
