County Combined Health District (Xenia,
OH) The Greene County Combined Health District is expanding the distribution of Free
Home Radon Testing Kits for Greene County Residents. Free
Radon Testing Kits can be picked up at the following locations Monday through
Friday: Greene County Combined Health District, 360 Wilson Drive, Xenia, from 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Yellow Springs Village Office utility window, 100 Dayton
Street, Yellow Springs, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Jamestown Village
Office, Jamestown, 84 Seaman Drive, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Radon
is a naturally occurring radioactive, invisible, odorless gas that when trapped
indoors can be harmful at elevated levels. It cannot be detected by the human
senses and is the second leading cause of lung cancer.
A University of Toledo report indicates that 57% of the homes tested in
Greene County have high levels of radon. The
good news is that radon is a problem that can be fixed! All Greene County
residents are encouraged to test their homes. It is simple to test, and
contracting with a licensed radon specialist can lower radon levels. For more information about Radon and Radon Testing, contact Greene County Combined Health District, Margaret Burns, Radon Education Coordinator, (937) 374-5600 or 1-866-858-3588.
