Tobacco-Free Healthy Communities Coalition Offers Smoking Cessation and Tobacco Prevention/Education Programs

(Xenia, OH) The Tobacco-Free Healthy Communities Coalition, in conjunction with the Greene County Combined Health District is now offering youth and adult smoking cessation classes and youth tobacco prevention/education programs.  These classes are available to anyone who lives or works in Greene, Clinton, Fayette or Warren Counties, the City of Hamilton or the City of Middletown.  Cessation classes being offered are the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking and NOT (Not on Tobacco).  Prevention/education classes being offered are the American Lung Association’s AtS (Alternative to Suspension) and the Ohio Dental Associations’ TACTIC (Teens Against Chewing Tobacco in the Community).

Classes can be scheduled at a variety of locations, including community centers, schools, churches and work sites.  Dates and times of classes can also be flexible to meet the needs of interested groups.

The Tobacco-Free Healthy Communities Coalition formed as a result of a grant awarded to the Greene County Combined Health District from the Ohio Tobacco Use and Prevention Control Foundation.  The purpose of the grant is to reduce tobacco use among youth, adults, pregnant women and minority populations.
