GREENE COUNTY COMBINED HEALTH DISTRICT

RECEIVES A MARCH OF DIMES CHAPTER COMMUNITY GRANT

(Xenia, Ohio) Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) received an $8,862.78 grant from the March of Dimes to implement the Your Link to Personal Health project.

The grant award will be used to provide Greene County university students access to a comprehensive GCCHD website educational program regarding sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Information available includes: risk factors; risky sexual behavior; signs and symptoms of STD’s; lack of symptoms of STD’s; a self-test; and area clinics for testing and treatment.

The overall goal of the program is to improve the health of women by increasing education, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, especially chlamydia. It is estimated that this program will reach over 10,000 female students.

The March of Dimes Ohio Chapter community grants program is designed to invest in priority projects that support three important foundation strategies: increasing availability of services related to prematurity; improving access to and quality of health care for women and infants; and increasing availability of prevention services. The chapter community grants fund for 2003 is approximately $225,000.00.  For additional information regarding the March of Dimes grant program, please call the March of Dimes at (937) 429-2826.
